Jed Beaton consolidates fifth in the MX2 standings

Jed Beaton of the F&H Racing Team consolidated his fifth place in the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship standings for Kawasaki with two more solid rides in the Russian round of the series.

The Australian had the misfortune to collide with another rider at the start of the opening GP moto at the spectacular Orlyonok track overlooking the Black Sea but he showed great commitment to fight back to eighth place after restarting last. Initially eleventh in race two he quickly advanced to seventh place but the exertions of the tough first ride took their toll and he wisely accepted that as his finishing position rather than risk a crash. Eighth overall on the day, he has maintained his fifth position in the series standings after six rounds of the twenty GP series.

Jed Beaton: “I felt a little bit stiff this morning during the warm-up as I had a pretty big crash yesterday during the qualifying race. My first start was OK but I collided with Brylyakov in the first turn; I still managed to come back to eighth so I was pretty happy with that ride. I put a lot of energy into that race and it made the second one pretty hard; it was also very hot today so my body felt a little bit drained so I couldn’t push for the entire moto but I still ended up seventh. It wasn’t my best weekend of the year but I took some good points and I’m still fifth in the championship."

Teammate Adam Sterry showed speed to hold fourth place in the early stages of the opening moto, but crashes in both races cost him several places and he eventually had to settle for thirteenth overall, whilst the team's GP rookie Ruben Fernandez sat out the GP after damaging a thumb during practice the previous day.

Brian Moreau took his BUD Racing Monster Energy Kawasaki to seventh place overall in the third round of the FIM European EMX250 Motocross Championship and is now eighth in the series standings.
